About the position

The Architectural Designer II - Urban Design / Mixed Use position at Populous involves working within a collaborative and dynamic design environment focused on public assembly projects, including sports venues and mixed-use developments. The role requires exceptional design and technical skills, with an emphasis on communication and innovative design solutions.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on various project facets, particularly in sports and entertainment venues.
• Prepare for and attend client interviews, focus groups, and presentations.
• Develop graphics and written content for design documents and publications.
• Assist in reviewing and critiquing early phase design concepts.
• Conduct research and development projects as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an NAAB accredited program (required).
• 3+ years of professional architectural experience specializing in urban design.
• Proficiency in industry-standard 2D/3D software including Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, Sketch-Up, ArcGIS, PowerBi, Microsoft Office, and Adobe suite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• In-depth understanding of place-making and community-focused design.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in Architecture (preferred).
• Professional registration (preferred but not required).
• Working knowledge of Python, Ruby, and Ladybug Tools / Climate Consultant.
• Experience with coordinating or constructing physical models.
