About the position

The Architectural Designer II at Vestal Corporation is responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing the construction of building facilities. This role involves collaborating with design teams and clients to develop solutions that meet project objectives, budget constraints, and sustainability goals. Responsibilities

  • Analyze and develop solutions in response to project objectives, program requirements, and budget interactively with design team and clients.
  • Participate in predesign services, including feasibility studies, site selection analyses, cost analyses, and design requirements documentation.
  • Support Business Development by preparing deliverables lists, design schedules, conceptual drawings, technical narratives, architectural programming, and renderings.
  • Meet with Owners and Design/Builders to gather program requirements and prepare architectural programming and relationship diagrams.
  • Perform field observations and gather information on existing conditions.
  • Conduct planning studies and prepare preliminary designs, including site master plans and layouts.
  • Provide CAD/BIM production support to lead architect for schematics and construction documents.
  • Lead designer for select projects, potentially supervising a small team of designers.
  • Prepare take-offs and cost estimates for select projects.
  • Support design quality control and proactive coordination with other design disciplines.
  • Develop schematic, design development, and final construction documents.
  • Research state and local building codes, zoning laws, and fire regulations.
  • Generate solutions that align with client's environmental and sustainability goals.
  • Visit building sites to ensure contractors adhere to design intent and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Team Leader, Project Manager, Project Architect, and engineering disciplines to develop efficient solutions.
  • Comply with Company's Quality Control and Project Management procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a similar field is required.
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in architectural design is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Knowledge of architectural systems, construction documentation, and associated technology is essential.
  • Ability to record NCARB requirements for AXP with the goal of Architectural Registration in Missouri or Illinois.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Effective time management and personal conduct skills are essential.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional experience in architectural duties via internships is preferred.
  • Participation in applicable AIA, NCARB, and/or community activities is preferred.
