About the position

DLR Group is seeking an Architectural Designer II for our Education Studio located in Orlando, FL. As an integrated design firm, we are committed to elevating the human experience through design, and this role is pivotal in achieving that mission. The Architectural Designer II will support all aspects of project document development and coordinate with project team members to ensure the delivery of high-quality work products while adhering to project schedules and work plans. This position operates within a hybrid work model, allowing for flexibility between office time and remote work, and candidates must be local to Orlando or willing to relocate. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Project Architect and Project Manager to address client needs and maintain the financial health of projects. You will be responsible for producing accurate project documents, providing technical feedback during the conceptual development phase, and ensuring that project scope, goals, and objectives are effectively incorporated into all documentation. Your ability to communicate progress and collaborate with senior architectural staff will be essential in navigating code reviews and developing technical solutions to design challenges. We are looking for a detail-oriented, organized, and collaborative individual who can identify and propose technical solutions to design challenges. Responsibilities

  • Support all aspects of project document development.
  • Coordinate with project team members to produce quality work products.
  • Collaborate directly with the Project Architect and Project Manager to support client needs.
  • Assist in ensuring the project's financial health and design quality.
  • Identify and propose technical solutions to design challenges.
  • Provide technical feedback in the conceptual development of project documents.
  • Produce accurate documents for project assignments.
  • Apply practice standards to project assignments and deliver objectives on time.
  • Communicate progress of assignments to the Project Manager & Project Architect according to the established project schedule.
  • Ensure project scope, goals, objectives, and information are incorporated into project documents.
  • Collaborate with the PM in the development of the work plan.
  • Support senior architectural staff in code review for straightforward applications.
  • Develop a cartoon set with limited oversight.
  • Assist the Project Manager in developing the agenda for weekly team meetings and record meeting minutes.
  • QA/QC one's own work product and the work product of others.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of experience as architectural support staff or project coordination.
  • Professional Degree in Architecture or Design.
  • Proficient in the use of REVIT and CAD computer modeling and rendering software.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with a strategic mindset.

Nice-to-haves

  • Licensed Architect in the State of FL.
  • Experience with Higher Education or K-12 project types.
