About the position

Rockford Construction is a $450 million real estate development, construction, and property management firm with offices in Grand Rapids, Detroit, and Estero, Florida. We are currently seeking an Architect II or Architectural Designer II with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in commercial architecture. In this role, you will work directly with clients and our construction team to drive projects from concept to completion, creating design solutions and documentation that deliver exceptional quality within the owner's budget and schedule. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator and problem-solver who excels technically at code review, permitting requirements, the development of detailed construction documents, and construction administration. Experience with Revit/AutoCAD software is strongly preferred. Based on experience and capabilities, this role may also involve managing and mentoring other team members. Responsibilities

  • Work directly with clients and construction teams to drive projects from concept to completion.
  • Create design solutions and documentation that meet quality standards within budget and schedule.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure compliance with permitting requirements.
  • Develop detailed construction documents and oversee construction administration.
  • Manage and mentor other team members as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture from an accredited program or similar discipline required.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in commercial architecture.
  • Autodesk Revit software experience required.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including strong skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong creative and visualization skills.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills are essential.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable transportation for site visits.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Google Sketchup is a plus.
  • A master's degree in architecture from an accredited program.
