About the position

Studio AR D Architects Inc is seeking an entry to mid-level Architectural Designer, also referred to as Intermediate Designer (Design Staff 2 or Architect 2), to join our team in Los Angeles, CA. This position is ideal for a highly-organized individual who thrives in a fast-paced creative environment. The successful candidate will be expected to explore new design and construction methods while excelling at multi-tasking. Our studio operates full-time in the office, and hybrid or remote positions are not available. The role involves a strong interest in contemporary architecture, which should be reflected in the candidate's portfolio and work samples. The Architectural Designer will perform well throughout various design and documentation projects, including conceptual design, schematic design, and design development. A significant part of the job will involve the creation and development of construction documents, with a heavy emphasis on construction detailing. Collaboration with contractors and consultants on-site is essential, as is the ability to create 3D models and renderings using software such as Sketchup, Rhino, and Lumion. In addition to design responsibilities, the candidate will be expected to prepare client presentations and proposals, attend meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors, and interact with them through various communication channels. Researching and sourcing materials, vendors, pricing, and product specifications will also be part of the role. The position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to handle various office duties, including creating office standards and running errands for office and projects. Creative thinking is highly encouraged to foster an innovative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Strong interest in contemporary architecture, with a portfolio reflecting this passion.
  • Perform well throughout design and documentation projects from conceptual design to design development.
  • Create and develop construction documents with a focus on construction detailing.
  • Collaborate with contractors and consultants on-site in the field.
  • Create 3D models and renderings using Sketchup, Rhino, and Lumion.
  • Utilize graphic design software including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Prepare client presentations and proposals.
  • Attend client, consultant, and contractor meetings, interacting via email, phone calls, and in-person meetings.
  • Research and source materials, vendors, pricing, and product specifications.
  • Handle various office duties, including creating office standards and running errands.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience at an architecture firm.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture.
  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD is a must.
  • Experience in custom residential projects is desirable.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Experience with BIM software (Archicad or Revit) would be a bonus.
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of detail and accuracy.
  • Self-starter who can take initiative and ownership of duties while working well as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with high-end custom residential, hotel, hospitality, interior architecture, and landscape projects.
