About the position

This position is part of the architecture and design team for the Chicago, IL design studio, focusing on client interactions and the development of construction documents for an international retail brand. The role involves collaboration with senior staff on project management and timelines, offering candidates the opportunity to gain NCARB AXP experience necessary for architectural licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Day to day client interactions
  • Development of construction documents for retail projects
  • Collaborating with senior staff on scheduling and staffing
  • Management of project timelines and permitting
  • Managing a team of architects and interior designers during all phases of projects
  • Managing client and consultant communication
  • Independently producing construction drawings for small retail projects
  • Coordinating workloads with internal and external design teams
  • Coordinating with MEP, Structural, and Civil Engineering consultants
  • Overseeing and coordinating project team members on delegated tasks
  • Performing site surveys, code research, zoning research, and due diligence reports
  • Documenting architectural building systems including exterior wall systems, roofing systems, and storefront systems
  • Solving problems while balancing details with the bigger picture

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Architecture / Design required, Professional Degree (Bachelor's or Master's) preferred
  • 6+ years of experience in commercial architecture
  • Commercial construction document production experience preferred
  • Revit experience required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering programs such as Enscape
  • Well organized and able to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to manage several projects at once at different stages of development
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and act on feedback
  • Strong ability to communicate with team members and supervisors
  • Understanding and knowledge of building codes and zoning regulations
  • Understanding and knowledge of building systems and site requirements

Nice-to-haves

  • Licensure or progress towards Architectural licensure preferred
