About the position

The Architectural Designer III at Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is responsible for overseeing all phases of architectural work, from conceptual design to construction administration. This role involves collaborating with project teams to develop aesthetic and technical designs, ensuring quality control, and providing technical guidance to less experienced staff. The position requires proficiency in various design software and the ability to present design solutions directly to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project teams in development of the aesthetic and technical design and preparation of architectural design and construction documents
  • Utilize computer-assisted design software and equipment to prepare project designs and plans - specifically CAD, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Revit
  • Conduct code research
  • Ensure quality control reviews throughout project completion
  • Collaborate with designers, consultants, and staff to meet clients' goals
  • Independently apply advanced architectural concepts and designs
  • Responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned major project, including investigation, evaluation and recommendation of design solutions that best meets the client's needs
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced architects/architectural staff
  • Participate in the conceptual design and provides full support through the entire project
  • Can be relied upon to present directly to the client on technical and design solutions
  • Coordinate with Project Manager to directly supervise the teams' design and technical delivery

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science In Architecture or Bachelors of Architecture
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Experience with computer-assisted design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch-Up
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Nice-to-haves

  • Masters of Architecture
  • LEED AP accreditation preferred
  • NCARB AXP
  • Experience in education, transportation and community architecture
