The Architectural Designer III position is responsible for performing all phases of architectural work from conceptual design through construction administration. This role requires a strong understanding of both aesthetic and technical design, as well as the ability to prepare architectural design and construction documents. The successful candidate will assist project teams in the development of designs, utilizing computer-assisted design software and equipment, specifically CAD, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Revit. Conducting code research and ensuring quality control throughout project completion are essential functions of this role. Collaboration with designers, consultants, and staff is crucial to meet clients' goals, and the designer will independently apply advanced architectural concepts and designs. The position also involves providing technical guidance to less experienced architects and participating in the conceptual design process, offering full support throughout the project lifecycle. The Architectural Designer III can be relied upon to present directly to clients on technical and design solutions and will coordinate with the Project Manager to supervise the design and technical delivery of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project teams in development of the aesthetic and technical design and preparation of architectural design and construction documents.
  • Utilize computer-assisted design software and equipment to prepare project designs and plans, specifically CAD, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Revit.
  • Conduct code research and ensure quality control reviews throughout project completion.
  • Collaborate with designers, consultants, and staff to meet clients' goals.
  • Independently apply advanced architectural concepts and designs.
  • Responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned major project, including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions that best meet the client's needs.
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced architects/architectural staff.
  • Participate in the conceptual design and provide full support through the entire project.
  • Present directly to the client on technical and design solutions.
  • Coordinate with Project Manager to directly supervise the teams' design and technical delivery.

Requirements

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor's of Science in Architecture or Bachelor's of Architecture.
  • 10+ years of experience in architectural design.
  • Experience with computer-assisted design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Sketch-Up.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's of Architecture.
  • Professional Architect License.
  • LEED AP accreditation preferred.
  • Experience in education, transportation, and community architecture.
