About the position

The Architectural Designer III position at Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson involves overseeing all phases of architectural work, from conceptual design to construction administration. The role requires collaboration with project teams to develop aesthetic and technical designs, ensuring quality control and adherence to client goals throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project teams in the development of aesthetic and technical design and preparation of architectural design and construction documents.
  • Utilize computer-assisted design software and equipment to prepare project designs and plans, specifically CAD, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Revit.
  • Conduct code research and ensure quality control reviews throughout project completion.
  • Collaborate with designers, consultants, and staff to meet clients' goals.
  • Independently apply advanced architectural concepts and designs.
  • Responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned major project, including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions that best meet the client's needs.
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced architects/architectural staff.
  • Participate in the conceptual design and provide full support through the entire project.
  • Present directly to the client on technical and design solutions.
  • Coordinate with Project Manager to directly supervise the teams' design and technical delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science in Architecture or Bachelors of Architecture.
  • 10+ years of experience in architectural design.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with computer-assisted design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Sketch-Up.

Nice-to-haves

  • Masters of Architecture.
  • LEED AP accreditation preferred.
  • NCARB AXP certification.
  • Experience in education, transportation, and community architecture.
