DLR Group is an integrated design firm with a promise to elevate the human experience through design. This fuels the work we do around the world and inspires our mission to improve the lives of our clients, our communities, and our planet. If this sparks your interest, you're in the right place. DLR Group's Texas team has an opening for an Architectural Designer. We operate within a hybrid work model, supporting flexibility between office time and work from home. Considering this model, this role could be based in the following cities: Austin, Dallas, or Houston. As an Architectural Designer at DLR Group, you will collaborate with our cross-functional design teams to develop designs from conception through design development, prepare construction documents, specifications, team coordination, and support the project team through construction administration for a variety of project types and sizes. As part of our integrated design teams, you will create buildings that elevate the human experience through design. You will partner directly with the Project Manager to ensure the financial health of the project, the quality of project documents, claim prevention, team collaboration, and communication. Additionally, you will lead the cross-functional design disciplines in developing technical solutions. If you are a collaborative thought leader with a strategic mindset, this might be the position for you. The successful candidate will provide planning, design, and coordination of different size projects up to large complex projects. You will independently apply advanced architectural concepts and designs as well as carry out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures. You will coordinate drawings and specifications directly with the specification writer and assist in preparing sections as assigned. Engaging and guiding innovative idea generation within the integrated team in pursuit of design excellence will be a key part of your role. You will also review cost estimates for alignment with the design and provide technical guidance to less experienced design/architectural staff. Your responsibilities will include applying DLR Group practice standards to project deliverables across the project team, demonstrating a strong foundation of comprehensive design and technical skillsets, and actively leading collaboration at project and integrated team levels by generating design ideas and solutions. Effective communication with project team members through timely and appropriate written, oral, and visual means will be essential, as will engaging peers and specialty experts to proactively develop holistic solutions. Participation in client presentations and meeting deliverable deadlines to maintain overall project schedule will also be part of your duties. You will manage your time in alignment with the project workplan and understand construction and material costs in alignment with the project budget.
