About the position

The Architect / Architectural Project Manager position at Actalent requires a candidate who is capable of working both as part of a project team and independently, while benefiting from the support and resources of a large, experienced team of design professionals. The role demands proficiency in communicating project requirements and managing projects effectively. Candidates must be detail-oriented and possess exceptional organizational skills. This position involves regular interaction with clients, contractors, in-house staff, and consultants, necessitating strong communication skills. The role offers a dynamic opportunity to work across various disciplines within the architecture and engineering (A/E) industry, engaging in a diverse array of projects across multiple market segments. As a project manager, the individual will be responsible for providing direction to the project team, scheduling tasks, assessing project budgets, and ensuring that deliverable milestones are met. The candidate will manage small teams of architects, designers, and draftspeople, and will participate in the conceptual development of project designs and drawings for design presentations. Additionally, the role includes assisting with referendum planning efforts for various Board of Educations and preparing necessary project forms. The candidate will also be required to visit job sites to survey existing conditions, develop existing condition plans, take photographs, and prepare field memos to document observations. Furthermore, the preparation of project reports, cost estimates, feasibility studies, and other documents required for various project phases will be part of the responsibilities. The candidate will also prepare and develop architectural schematic designs and construction documents using REVIT and AutoCAD, while communicating and coordinating with design team members, architects, senior management, and other stakeholders throughout all phases of the design and construction process. Attendance at various meetings, including pre-design, plan review, and pre-construction meetings, is also expected.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as project manager, providing project team direction, scheduling, assessing project budgets, and meeting deliverable milestones.
  • Manage small teams of architects, designers, and/or draftspeople.
  • Participate in the conceptual development of project designs and drawings for design presentations.
  • Assist with referendum planning efforts for various Board of Educations and prepare NYSED project forms.
  • Visit job sites to survey existing conditions, develop existing condition plans, take photographs, and prepare field memos to document observations.
  • Prepare project reports, cost estimates, feasibility studies, and other documents required for various project phases.
  • Prepare and develop architectural schematic design and construction documents in REVIT and AutoCAD.
  • Communicate and coordinate with design team members, architects, senior management, other engineering disciplines, vendors, building officials, and other consultants throughout all phases of the design and construction process.
  • Attend various meetings, including pre-design, plan review, pre-construction, and professional organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture.
  • Licensed Architect or design professional on path to licensure with at least 4 years of experience in the AE industry.
  • Experience in K-12, Higher Education, and Municipal Projects.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or REVIT (REVIT preferred), Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to work as a team player while also being an independent worker with minimal supervision.
