About the position

The Architectural Designer (Mixed-Use Buildings) at Robert A.M. Stern Architects will collaborate closely with firm partners to lead the design efforts for high-end mixed-use projects, particularly in urban settings. The role emphasizes the design of multi-family and hospitality buildings, requiring a blend of creativity and technical skills to navigate various project phases from concept to construction administration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design effort for large and small scale mixed-use projects.
  • Apply knowledge of historic and traditional architectural elements in designs.
  • Work with masonry façade design and conduct construction reviews.
  • Utilize 3D modeling tools such as Sketchup and Rhino for rendered design drawings.
  • Produce technical drawings and organize sheet sets using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Prepare formal design packages for internal and external presentations.
  • Manage the full cycle of project phases including concept design, schematic design, design development, and construction documentation review.
  • Support construction administration processes.
  • Design both interior and exterior spaces, including unit and amenity layouts.
  • Incorporate concepts of parking structures for mixed-use buildings in urban environments.
  • Ensure compliance with the international building code.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Architecture or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience as an Architectural Designer or in a related occupation.
  • Experience in applying knowledge of historic and traditional architectural elements to designs.
  • Proficiency in masonry façade design and construction review.
  • Experience with 3D modeling tools including Sketchup and Rhino.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit for producing technical drawings and organizing sheet sets.
  • Ability to prepare formal design packages for presentations.
  • Experience working through all project phases from concept to construction administration.
  • Knowledge of interior and exterior design principles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Enscape and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience in designing hospitality buildings.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $78,000 to $92,000 per year.
