About the position

O2 Treehouse is a high-end treehouse construction company that specializes in producing largely prefabricated and technical structures. We are currently seeking talented Architectural Designers to join our team or work on contract projects. The role involves working from concept to completion on various aspects including models, drawings, acquisitions, and fabrication support. It is essential for our designers to have a solid background in fabrication and construction projects to ensure the creation of efficient designs and drawings. The position requires a commitment to work in Petaluma at least three days per week to foster collaboration and team creation. As an Architectural Designer, you will be responsible for fleshing out designs provided by the Lead Designer and Owner, Dustin Feider. Your responsibilities will include creating structure designs and renders, developing fabrication and construction documents, collaborating with engineering consultants, and engaging in site design and planning. You will also be involved in acquisitions and material research. A design concept will be provided, and with the assistance of Dustin, you will be expected to create a comprehensive architectural planset that will be utilized in the construction of these unique custom structures, primarily treehouses. Additionally, you will be accessible via phone during work hours to the construction crew to address detailed questions about the structure, as you will be the expert on the designs you create.

Responsibilities

  • Create structure designs and renders for treehouses.
  • Develop fabrication and construction documents.
  • Collaborate with engineering consultants on project specifications.
  • Engage in site design and planning for treehouse installations.
  • Conduct acquisitions and material research for construction projects.
  • Provide detailed architectural plansets based on design concepts provided by the Lead Designer.

Requirements

  • Experience in fabrication and working on construction projects.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Rhino, Fusion, Sketchup, or equivalent.
  • Hands-on construction and fabrication experience.
  • Ability to create detailed construction documents and architectural plans.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with construction crews.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Lumion for rendering.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
