About the position

The Facilities Management Architectural Designer / Project Manager at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City plays a crucial role in overseeing facilities-related projects, providing technical and design expertise, and leading project management efforts. This position involves managing projects from initial design development to project close-out, ensuring compliance with building codes and addressing evolving business needs to support strategic growth.

Responsibilities

  • Manage moderate to large-scale projects, including office remodels and major construction renovations, with minimal oversight.
  • Develop construction documents using AutoCAD software.
  • Utilize AutoCAD to create construction details including floor plans, elevations, sections, and schedules.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
  • Manage the selection and procurement of professional consultants and contractors.
  • Prepare all Request for Proposals, host bidder's conferences, and conduct bid evaluations.
  • Initiate and oversee all project phases, including programming, design, scheduling, move coordination, procurement, contractor management, project monitoring, and close-out procedures.
  • Collaborate with and coordinate external architects, engineers, and consultants.
  • Provide technical expertise and project oversight to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and jurisdictional codes.
  • Manage all project contracts, change orders, invoices, and standard project governance documents such as risk assessments, project charters, and approval memorandums.
  • Develop and present high-quality documents to leadership for review and approval.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, interior design, interior architecture, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in commercial-related architecture or interior design, including project management and space planning.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
  • Strong knowledge of building and life safety codes.
  • Excellent understanding and interpretation of construction documents such as risk assessments, project charters, and approval memorandums.
  • Knowledge of budget and accounting principles.
  • High level of initiative and ability to multitask, meeting deadlines efficiently.
