BL Companies is seeking an Architectural Designer/Registered Architect to join our team. In this role, the Architectural Designer/Registered Architect will be responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of design production and managing construction documents. The successful candidate will act as the primary point of contact for project technical inquiries and will work closely with MEP and Structural teams to ensure seamless coordination of project deliverables. This position requires a strong understanding of materials and methods, particularly in metal stud, masonry, and steel construction, to produce accurate and viable construction details. The Architectural Designer/Registered Architect will also be involved in formulating space planning and Schematic Design solutions that align with client needs, budget constraints, and specification requirements. The role includes reviewing and implementing applicable codes and regulations across various jurisdictions, updating documents to reflect internal quality control measures, and assisting with the Construction Administration Process, including the review of Shop Drawings and RFIs. This position offers the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Produce complete and accurate construction documents based on prototype design templates and one-off projects with quick turnarounds and tight deadlines.
  • Integrate an understanding of materials and methods into construction documents, focusing on metal stud, masonry, and steel construction to produce accurate construction details.
  • Review and implement applicable codes and regulations across various jurisdictions.
  • Formulate space planning and Schematic Design solutions to meet client needs, budget, and specification requirements.
  • Integrate MEP and structural systems into construction documents to ensure full coordination with architectural design.
  • Update documents to incorporate internal quality control, supervisor redmarks, client-driven changes, and changes required by the AHJ.
  • Assist with the Construction Administration Process, including the review of Shop Drawings and RFIs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with the production of commercial architecture projects.
  • Experience compiling a set of construction documents in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Experience designing/updating projects in Revit.
  • 8+ years of experience with commercial/retail/industrial production design for Registered Architects.
  • RA Licensure is required.
  • Experience with construction administration.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff members.
