About the position

The Architectural Designer at Larson Design Group (LDG) will play a crucial role in the retail architecture sector, applying intermediate architectural principles to various projects. This position involves completing design computations, preparing written technical reports, and creating detailed design plans. The Architectural Designer will also oversee standard project development and make minor project decisions, ensuring that all deliverables meet the high standards set by the firm. In this role, the designer will be responsible for developing technically accurate, clean, and deliverable drawings. This includes writing specifications, reviewing submittals, and coordinating project submissions. The designer will coordinate the preparation of advanced multi-discipline drawing sets, working closely with technical, administrative, and other design staff to ensure seamless project execution. A strong emphasis will be placed on promoting and utilizing quality assurance and quality control processes to enhance the quality of deliverables and minimize design errors and omissions, which can lead to claims. The designer will also be tasked with researching and understanding code compliance requirements for assigned projects, ensuring that all designs adhere to relevant regulations. The Architectural Designer will have the ability to independently create simple standard details required for projects, under the guidance of a supervisor. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about architecture and eager to contribute to innovative design solutions in the retail sector.

Responsibilities

  • Develops technically accurate, clean, and deliverable drawings.
  • Writes specifications, reviews submittals, and coordinates project submissions.
  • Coordinates the preparation of advanced multi-discipline drawing sets as required for assigned projects, including coordination with technical, administrative, and other design staff.
  • Promotes, utilizes, and supports quality assurance and quality control processes to improve the quality of deliverables and reduce design errors & omissions, thereby resulting in a reduction in claims.
  • Reviews and coordinates technical staff work prior to submission.
  • Researches and understands code compliance requirements for assigned projects.
  • Ability to independently create simple standard details that may be required for a project under guidance of supervisor.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate or Bachelor's Degree in a Technical discipline preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of eight (8) years' experience with another A/E/S firm preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivating and able to mentor others.
  • Proficiency with Revit, CAD, Civil 3D, Sketch-Up, Photoshop and other related software programs.
