About the position

The Architectural Designer & Planner at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) is responsible for managing and overseeing the design and execution of capital construction, renovation, and planning projects. This role involves strategic planning, collaboration with stakeholders, and contributing to the development of long-range campus planning and the biennial capital budget. The position requires excellent communication and coordination skills to ensure the success of UWM's physical environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as project manager for capital construction, renovation, and planning projects.
• Support project implementation and strategic planning.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on various projects.
• Contribute to the development of long-range campus planning and strategic facility planning.
• Prepare cyclical documents for the biennial capital budget.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of three years of related professional experience in architectural graphic conventions or related fields.
• Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD or space management software.
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret data and generate analytical reports.
• Excellent communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in Urban Planning, Facilities Management, or a related field.
• Registration as a licensed Architect in Wisconsin.
• Previous experience in space management and/or facilities planning in higher education.
• Knowledge of relevant building codes or ADA regulations.
