About the position

As a Designer at Lamar Johnson Collaborative (LJC), you will play a crucial role in contributing to a variety of design projects within our innovative Industrial Design practice. This position is based in Phoenix, AZ, and involves collaborating with a dynamic team of professionals who are passionate about design and committed to delivering high-quality results. You will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle, from the initial design concept through to the final completion of deliverables and submissions. Your work will require a high level of quality and attention to detail, ensuring that all aspects of the project meet the standards expected by our clients and the firm. In this role, you will conduct thorough analyses of various data sets to inform your design decisions and develop comprehensive urban planning concepts. You will also create engaging project presentations that effectively communicate your ideas to clients and stakeholders. Collaboration is key at LJC, and you will coordinate with a multi-disciplinary design team, assisting with project management and serving as a key liaison for clients. Your technical expertise will be invaluable as you provide guidance on planning, regulatory environments, urban design, and site design across a variety of project types and scales. You will have the opportunity to represent LJC in the community and at civic events, engaging with both public and private-sector clients, including governmental entities. Familiarity with public engagement tools and processes will be beneficial as you develop intentional civic and public engagement strategies. Responsibilities

  • Deliver projects from design concept through final completion of deliverables and submissions with a high level of quality.
  • Conduct analysis of various data sets and develop urban planning concepts.
  • Create project presentations to communicate design ideas effectively.
  • Coordinate with a multi-disciplinary design team to ensure project success.
  • Assist with project management and serve as a key client liaison.
  • Provide technical assistance on planning, regulatory environments, urban design, and site design.
  • Attend meetings with public and private-sector clients, including governmental entities.
  • Represent LJC in the community and at civic events.
  • Develop civic and public engagement tools and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or a related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant, demonstrable experience in architectural design.
  • Demonstrated competence with AutoCAD/Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, GIS, and 3D modeling tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to graphically explain ideas.
  • Competent presentation skills and a consistent understanding of design thinking implementation.
