About the position

The Architectural Designer & Planner at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) is responsible for managing and overseeing the design and execution of capital construction, renovation, and planning projects. This role involves strategic planning, collaboration with stakeholders, and contributing to the long-term development of the campus environment. The position requires excellent communication and coordination skills to ensure successful project implementation and alignment with UWM's mission.

Responsibilities

• Serve as project manager for capital construction, renovation, and planning projects.
• Oversee design and execution of assigned projects.
• Support project implementation and strategic planning efforts.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on project development.
• Contribute to the development of long-range campus planning and strategic facility planning.
• Act as an Agency Representative and Project Manager on various projects.
• Assist in the preparation of the biennial capital budget and cyclical documents.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of three years of related professional experience in architectural graphic conventions or related fields.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in Urban Planning, Facilities Management or related field.
• Registration as a licensed Architect in Wisconsin.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or space management software.
• Strong analytical skills for data interpretation and report generation.
• Experience in space management and/or facilities planning in higher education.
• Knowledge of relevant building codes, ADA regulations, or space utilization best practices.
• Excellent communication skills.
