About the position

Vessel Technologies is seeking an experienced Architectural Designer to join their team in New York, NY. This full-time position focuses on improving and expanding the company's multifamily construction product line through innovative design and prefabrication strategies. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to translate design concepts into viable products, ensuring compliance with building codes and sustainability standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in redefining housing solutions and addressing the ongoing housing crisis in America.

Responsibilities

  • Explore enhancements to Vessel's existing product line.
  • Lead efforts to expand the product line into new categories.
  • Investigate the applicability of new building products and materials for future use.
  • Ensure designs comply with building codes across multiple jurisdictions, addressing multifamily housing standards and prefabrication techniques.
  • Lead efforts to incorporate green building technologies, universal design principles, and accessibility standards into Vessel's product offerings.
  • Work to ensure compliance with sustainability certifications and energy-efficient building practices.
  • Solicit feedback from end users, incorporating insights into the product design process for ongoing improvements.
  • Coordinate closely with Vessel's manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure design concepts are technically and commercially viable.
  • Work closely with Vessel's BIM management teams to streamline the transition from design to construction documentation.
  • Investigate and recommend new technologies, materials, and construction methods to improve Vessel's product line.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Master's degree in Architecture.
  • Licensed architect with 5+ years of experience in multifamily residential design and prefabrication strategies.
  • In-depth knowledge of building codes across various jurisdictions, especially in multifamily housing.
  • Experience in sustainable design, universal design, and accessibility.
  • Proficiency with BIM software (e.g., Revit).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, engineering, and BIM management.
  • Strong design skills and a passion for innovation in prefabrication and modular housing.
  • Ability to handle complex projects with attention to detail and quality.
  • Excellent communication skills for soliciting user feedback and coordinating across teams.
