About the position

Toll Brothers, America's leading builder of luxury homes, is seeking an Architectural Designer for our office located in Irvine, California. As an Architectural Designer, you will play a pivotal role in the collaborative direction of Toll's industry-leading national product design efforts alongside the Division Leadership teams. This position is integral to ensuring that our designs not only meet but exceed the expectations of our clients and align with the company's mission and vision. In this role, you will be responsible for providing review, comment, and direction during the design development process. You will engage in planning reviews and provide input on proposed product value engineering efforts. Your expertise will be crucial in reviewing construction documents to ensure design compliance on critical projects. Additionally, you will support the division during construction, offering design clarification and guidance to maintain compliance with design intent and construction documents. You will also assist in maintaining and updating product design best practices and processes, ensuring that our designs remain at the forefront of the industry. Your responsibilities will include attending selected project frame walks as needed and conducting continuous market study research to respond to consumer trends and directions. As a champion of the company's values, you will provide leadership to product design team members throughout the region, fostering an environment of creativity and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide review, comment, and direction during the design development process
  • Plan review and input of proposed product VE efforts
  • Provide construction document review for purpose of design compliance on critical projects
  • Division support during construction for purposes of design clarification and direction
  • Field guidance and support to maintain compliance with design intent and construction documents
  • Assistance in maintaining and updating product design best practices and processes
  • Attend selected project frame walks (as needed)
  • Continuous market study research to respond to consumer trends and direction
  • Serve as a champion of the company's values, mission, and vision, and provide leadership to product design team members throughout the region

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's of Architecture degree is required
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of residential design or construction documents experience
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of AutoCAD and Photoshop experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Construction field experience i.e. frame walks and construction document compliance
  • Creative and improvisational problem solving skills
  • Strong graphics capabilities with the ability to articulate ideas by way of freehand sketching
  • Strong organizational skills, including planning, scheduling, and follow up capabilities
