About the position

The Architectural Designer at IA Interior Architects is responsible for leading all design phases for interior projects, establishing the vision, and managing a team while engaging extensively with clients. This role requires a blend of technical design skills, leadership, and collaboration to create high-performance and visually compelling environments that align with client goals and business strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in overall technical design for projects
  • Directs staff to complete design and technical drawing
  • Reviews design and technical drawing of junior designers
  • Reviews engineering drawings to ensure compliance with design solutions
  • Works with technical staff to resolve inconsistencies in drawings
  • Aids in the creation of floor plans, elevations, architectural and millwork details for RFPs
  • Reviews and redlines construction documents, shop drawings, and related submittals
  • Produces, reviews, and finalizes space plans for projects
  • Finalizes details on projects with extensive knowledge of detailing
  • Reviews and produces final cost estimates
  • May assist with support for field surveys in unusual circumstances
  • Manages overall design budget and ensures adherence to it
  • Informs PM and/or client of any potential budget variances
  • Manages the work of other Designers and provides feedback on work product
  • Organizes and conducts client interviews to determine space needs and requirements
  • Provides needed information to clients on design specifications

Requirements

  • Graduate of architecture school or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years' experience in corporate or workplace design projects preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of design principles
  • Extensive knowledge of store planning methodology
  • Proficient with furniture layout concepts
  • Expert sketching and rendering skills
  • Expert architecture detailing skills
  • Extensive knowledge of CDs and procedures
  • Extensive knowledge of building systems, codes, and ADA requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of contract administration
  • Intermediate MS Office Suite skills
  • Advanced Revit skills
  • Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills
  • Affinity Program skills or equivalent
  • Extensive verbal and written communication skills
  • Extensive presentation and graphic communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead staff

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of budget preparation and proven ability to manage projects within budgetary constraints
