About the position

Patel Construction is seeking a talented and self-motivated Architectural Designer to join our team in New Orleans, LA. This position is integral to our local real estate development company, where the successful candidate will assist in building and maintaining hotels, multi-family residential buildings, offices, and more. The Architectural Designer will report directly to the Chief Creative Officer (CCO) and will be involved in both short and long-term planning for various projects, including demolition, physical improvements, new and existing modernization, and other economic development initiatives. In this role, the Architectural Designer will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of accurate project files and preparing project-related budgets. Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines, as well as residential and hotel building code requirements, is crucial. The candidate will monitor work performed, ensuring quality assurance and quality control, and will track project progress, including millwork and shop drawings. Additionally, the Architectural Designer will be responsible for notifying contractors in writing of any construction deficiencies that arise during the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of architectural project phases, budget management, technical and visual specifications, and site analysis. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential for effective project management and collaboration with designers, contractors, engineers, and ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Proficiency in all architectural project phases including design, budget management, technical & visual specifications, and site analysis.
  • Oversee the maintenance of accurate project files and preparation of project-related budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines, as well as residential and hotel building code requirements.
  • Monitor work performed for quality assurance and quality control.
  • Track project progress, including millwork and shop drawings.
  • Notify contractors in writing of construction deficiencies.
  • Collaborate directly with designers, contractors, engineers, and ownership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or higher.
  • 3-5 years' experience working in an architectural office or similar.
  • 1-2 years' experience working and coordinating projects in the field.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp or other 3D software; Revit is preferred but not required.
  • General understanding of local building codes, construction methods, and materials.
