About the position

Phase One is seeking an Architectural Designer to join our innovative residential architectural design and drafting company in Columbia, SC. This role focuses on managing multiple design projects, maintaining client communication, and creating bespoke architectural designs from a construction perspective. The position is office-based with some site visits and local travel, emphasizing collaboration and a positive client experience.

Responsibilities

• Self-manage 8-15 design projects at any given time
• Work directly with clients and meet with them weekly
• Maintain a high level of client communication and create a great experience for clients
• Design creative floorplans using space planning principles and design exterior and interior architectural elements
• Attend site visits and measure existing structures
• Create site maps based on surveys and relevant setbacks and easements
• Communicate with local zoning and building code officials
• Generate interior and exterior 3D renderings of designs in Chief Architect
• Draw construction documents according to local and state codes
• Collaborate with the sales and marketing team
• Occasionally attend after hours events
• Collaborate with the sister construction company, Azalea Building Group
• Coordinate with surveyors, engineers, builders, and other 3rd party vendors as needed

Requirements

• A degree in interior design, architecture, architectural drafting or a related field
• 1 year of experience in interior design (preferred)
• Experience in residential architectural design and/or drafting
• Experience in space planning
• Ability to draw construction documents according to local and state codes
• Experience using 3D software such as Chief Architect or Revit
• Strong customer relationship management skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Time management skills
