About the position

The Architectural Designer position at Stantec is an entry-level role within a top global design firm, focusing on architecture, building engineering, and interior design services. The role involves working under the guidance of experienced architects and design coordinators, contributing to various design tasks while engaging with a diverse team. The position offers opportunities for professional growth, mentorship, and gaining experience towards licensure in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of design through sketches, physical models, digital models, diagrams, and massing studies.
  • Utilize BIM to develop three-dimensional building models and aid in the production of construction documents.
  • Participate in internal project reviews and critiques.
  • Prepare and revise documentation during all project phases, including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, and sections.
  • Coordinate with building systems such as structure, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Assist in contract administration tasks, including submittal review and construction site visits.
  • Participate in project coordination and meetings with internal team members, external consultants, and clients.
  • Implement sustainable design principles into building design and surrounding environments.
  • Assist in site analysis and research of design concepts, benchmarks, materials, and precedents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor and/or Master degree in Architecture or related field.
  • 0 to 3 years' experience in architectural design or related field.
  • Basic knowledge of accessibility codes and building codes.
  • Basic knowledge of building construction systems.
  • Understanding of architectural document production phases and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to conduct space planning and develop floor plans, wall sections, and details.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Revit.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with digital graphic tools such as Enscape, Lumion, Sketch-up, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • LEED Green Associate or LEED AP certification is a plus.
  • Established NCARB record and working towards licensure preferred.
