The Architectural Drafter / Junior Estimator position at Fischer & Frichtel Custom Homes, LLC is a full-time role based in Chesterfield, MO. This entry-level position is ideal for candidates with a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Drafting Technology, Design, Architectural Technology, Construction Technology, Construction Estimating, or a related field. The company is also open to considering entry-level candidates who possess equivalent work experience in construction, drafting, or a related field. The role involves daily interaction with the Estimating, Design, and Construction teams, requiring solid written and verbal communication skills, as well as a service-oriented mindset and a team player attitude. In this position, the successful candidate will develop an understanding of community features, standards, city codes, and regional building methodologies that affect design and construction. The role will also involve adapting CADD/BIM models for site-specific customer homes and purchasers, ensuring that established deadlines are met, and facilitating problem-solving with fellow team members. The candidate will assist in estimating material takeoffs for each floor plan, although prior estimating experience is not required. The position offers on-the-job training for candidates with an estimating background, and it is essential for the candidate to become familiar with the home building process from pre-contract to post-construction and close.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Drafting Technology, Design, Architectural Technology, Construction Technology, Construction Estimating, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of residential architectural plans and construction drawings preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Softplan, Chief Architect, Revit, or similar BIM software applications.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under time constraints.
  • Service-oriented mindset with a team player attitude.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior estimating experience is not required but is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the home building process from pre-contract to post-construction.
