About the position

As an Architectural Drafter at Fargo Glass and Paint, you will play a crucial role in the design and drafting process, utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems to create, update, and modify architectural drawings. Your primary responsibilities will include operating CAD software to produce shop drawings for submittals and shop production, ensuring that all drawings adhere to predetermined standards. You will also be responsible for reviewing and updating the drafting schedule, attending departmental meetings, and acting as a Project Manager when necessary. In this position, you will create CAD drawings for various construction projects and modify existing drawings for special assignments. You will be expected to copy project drawings and specification documents, greet customers and the public, and assist them with inquiries, directing them to the appropriate individuals when necessary. Additionally, you may assist in product layouts and applications, help with product submittals, and manage warranty closeout documents. Scanning completed documents and job folders for storage on the shared drive will also be part of your duties. To succeed in this role, you must be a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills, capable of communicating effectively both in writing and verbally. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to negotiate and solve problems are essential. You should be able to work independently with minimal supervision, manage multiple tasks efficiently, and interact professionally with colleagues and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Computer Aided Design (CAD) computer system, including creating, updating and modifying maps.
  • Review and update drafting schedule.
  • Use predetermined standards to create shop drawings for submittals and shop production.
  • Attend departmental meetings as required.
  • Act as Project Manager when necessary.
  • Create CAD drawings for construction projects.
  • Create and modify drawings for special assignments.
  • Copy project drawings and specification documents.
  • Greet customers and the public in person and on the telephone, answering questions and directing them to the appropriate individual when necessary.
  • Assist in product layouts and applications.
  • Assist in product submittals.
  • Assist in warranty closeout documents and submittal of them.
  • Scan completed documents and job folders to be saved on the shared drive.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with AutoCAD.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 (Word & Excel).
  • Associate's Degree in Drafting, Engineering, or related field.
