About the position

Minneapolis College is seeking a part-time Architectural Drafting/Technology Instructor for the upcoming fall semester of 2024. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about teaching and mentoring students in the field of architectural drafting and technology. The instructor will be responsible for delivering a temporary part-time load of 9-12 credits per academic semester, utilizing various instructional methods including on-site, online, and hybrid formats to accommodate a diverse student body that includes traditional students, adult learners, and English-language learners. The role involves conducting classroom research and assessment activities to evaluate student performance and understanding. In addition to teaching, the instructor will mentor and advise students, maintaining consistent communication through office hours, email, and telephone. The instructor will also be tasked with planning, developing, and delivering curriculum that aligns with the college's mission, vision, and core values. Engaging in professional development activities and promoting diversity and cultural competency within the classroom are also key responsibilities of this position. Responsibilities

  • Teach a temporary part-time load (9-12 credits per academic semester) in Architectural Drafting/Technology.
  • Deliver instruction using a variety of methods including on-site, online, and/or hybrid-blended for a wide range of students.
  • Conduct classroom research and other assessment/evaluation activities.
  • Mentor and advise students.
  • Maintain consistent communication with students through office hours, email, and telephone.
  • Plan, develop, and deliver curriculum.
  • Support the mission, vision, and core values of the college.
  • Engage in professional development activities.
  • Promote diversity and cultural competency.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in architectural drafting/technology or a degree in architecture.
  • Teaching and Learning Competency Requirement (to be completed within first three years of employment).

Nice-to-haves

  • Four-year degree in Architecture.
  • 5 years or more working in architecture or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Knowledgeable about methods of instruction, testing, and evaluation of students.
  • General knowledge of international building codes for residential and commercial.
  • Advanced knowledge of ADA ANSI and Minnesota accessibility standards.
  • Experience estimating residential construction projects.
  • Current Architect registration.
  • Knowledge of Auto CAD Revit.
  • Experience with hand and CAD drafting methods, techniques, and guidelines for use in production of construction documents.

Benefits

  • Faculty salaries currently range from $43,067 - $94,542 annually. Salary schedule placement is determined on the basis of education and experience.
