About the position

For over 25 years, Division 7 Mtls has been a vertically integrated leader in the design, fabrication, and installation of architectural wall panel systems and sheet metal products. We take great pride in our products and strive to provide high-quality facade systems delivered on time, the first time. Unlike most of our competition, we do not act merely as a broker, sales representative, or project manager. Instead, we fully control the process and work as a value-added partner every step of the way from early stage design, mid-cycle value engineering, fabrication, and onsite field management. Our 65,000 square foot facility contains a dedicated team and equipment to produce first-class products with shorter lead times. The Architectural Draftsman will work in conjunction with the Engineering Manager, project managers, and estimators to create accurate designs, shop drawings, and fabrication drawings using both AutoCAD and AlphaCam. This role involves producing detailed design and construction drawings and documents, working closely with the team to provide backup support tasks on projects with tight schedules, and utilizing AutoCAD/Revit software to create full-scale and detailed designs of buildings. The draftsman will also generate revisions from outline mock-ups, redlined drawings, and project document sets, interpret and coordinate with other disciplines' drawings, and work with field crews to interpret field measurements and produce accurate material layouts. Maintaining positive client relationships throughout the project is crucial, as is the communication of information with other team members, disciplines, vendors, and contractors. The Architectural Draftsman will provide regular status updates to the Project Manager and manage multiple projects and tasks to meet schedules and budgets. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed design and construction drawings and documents.
• Work closely with the team to provide backup support tasks on projects with tight schedules.
• Utilize AutoCAD/Revit software to create full-scale and detailed designs of buildings and develop documentation from concept drawings.
• Generate revisions from outline mock-ups, redlined drawings, and project document sets.
• Interpret, understand, and coordinate with other disciplines' drawings.
• Work with field crews to interpret field measurements and produce accurate material layouts.
• Maintain positive client relationships throughout the project.
• Communicate information with other team members, disciplines, vendors, and contractors.
• Provide regular status updates to the Project Manager.
• Manage multiple projects and tasks to meet schedules and budgets.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in a related field or comparable work experience.
• Professional experience of 3-5+ years preferred.
• Proficient knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production.
• Understanding of construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer appropriateness.
• Ability to graphically communicate design concepts as required by a variety of projects.
• Advanced skills in AutoCAD/Revit software to create full-scale detailed designs.
• Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and provide high-quality service to clients.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Exposure to Adobe Creative Suite.
• Satisfactory completion of background screening.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in architectural drafting for metal panel systems.
• Familiarity with 3D rendering software.
