About the position

Forehand + Partners, an established interior design firm located in Fairfield, Connecticut, is seeking a talented Architectural Draftsperson to join their team. This position offers an immediate opportunity to work on a diverse range of high-end custom residential projects, spanning from traditional to contemporary designs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in high-end residential design and construction, particularly with an emphasis on cabinetry and millwork details. The role requires proficiency in AutoCAD 2010 or higher, along with experience in Microsoft Office and Outlook. The successful candidate will be expected to take projects from initial design concepts through to the creation of construction documents with minimal supervision, showcasing their ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously. In this role, the Architectural Draftsperson will be responsible for reading and understanding architectural plans and construction details, which is essential for the successful execution of projects. Job site experience, including site measuring and verification, is also a critical component of this position. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary to effectively collaborate with team members and clients. The firm values independent work, and the candidate must demonstrate the ability to thrive in a self-directed environment. Preferred qualifications include an understanding of furniture design, space planning, and general clearance requirements, as well as a solid grasp of residential building codes, zoning requirements, and construction standards. Additional skills such as the ability to produce lighting and electrical plans, schedules for plumbing, lighting, and hardware, as well as cost estimation and construction pricing/bidding, will be considered advantageous. Familiarity with project management and 3D modeling/rendering software like Sketchup is a plus, although not required. This position is available for both part-time and full-time employment, with expected hours ranging from 40 to 50 per week, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities
