About the position

KMB architects is seeking an Architectural Specification Writer to collaborate with design professionals and clients on a variety of projects. This role involves developing specifications, coordinating with teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator and problem solver, contributing to a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, schedule, organize, and execute specification development for various project types.
• Assist in the development of specification standards, policies, and procedures.
• Confer with clients, consultants, contractors, and others during various stages of project development.
• Review architectural drawings and details to coordinate with specifications.
• Review and update specifications to stay current with industry standards and advancements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 7 years of progressively responsible experience in all phases of architecture.
• Substantial experience in the preparation of specification construction documents.
• Experience working in SpecLink and/or MasterSpec.
• Thorough knowledge of architectural design, documentation, detailing, building materials, building codes, and construction techniques.
• Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with contract language, liability, indemnifications, and definitions.
• Practical knowledge of general architectural practice including programming, site planning, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering.
