About the position

The Area Buyer role at US Foods, Inc. is a hybrid position based in Flowood, MS, combining onsite and virtual work. This role focuses on inventory management and replenishment, ensuring efficient purchasing processes and optimal inventory levels to meet customer demands. The Area Buyer will be responsible for monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), preparing purchase orders, and collaborating with various teams to enhance company performance and minimize spoilage.

Responsibilities

• Drive daily replenishment duties and KPI monitoring.
• Deliver on KPIs for desk-specific goals such as Service Level and Days-Inventory-On-Hand (DIOH).
• Analyze economic order quantities and prepare purchase orders with suppliers.
• Execute forward-buy opportunities to achieve profitability based on targeted goals.
• Monitor projected out-of-stock reports and make purchasing decisions accordingly.
• Establish communication with internal partners regarding supplier production delays.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to optimize inventory levels.
• Utilize understanding of product shelf life to prevent spoilage.
• Communicate seasonal trends to drive profitability with accurate costs.
• Coordinate with logistics and warehouse operations for efficient practices.

Requirements

• 1+ years of direct inventory management/supply chain experience required.
• Superior oral and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to function in Microsoft Excel.
• General understanding of logistics and distribution models.
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations and meet deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

• Minimum 3 years purchasing experience preferred, especially in food service.
• Experience with SCPO (Supply Chain Planning Optimization) is heavily preferred.
