About the position

The Area Chief of Staff is responsible for leading, developing, and managing associate veterinarians in their hospitals to ensure high-quality care and performance. This role emphasizes the importance of a strong veterinary team culture and the delivery of consistent care across all pets, aligning with Banfield's six domains of quality. The Area Chief of Staff collaborates with Practice Managers and other leaders to drive engagement, retention, and the overall success of veterinary practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage associate veterinarians to ensure quality care and performance.
• Champion a culture of quality and safety at the hospital level.
• Conduct regular hospital visits and quality audits to ensure compliance with standards.
• Develop and coach associate veterinarians on necessary skills for success.
• Partner with the Director of Veterinary Quality to recruit and onboard new veterinarians.
• Deliver on veterinary quality KPIs to support hospital performance.
• Identify and develop future veterinary talent for leadership roles.
• Manage medical equipment inventory and functionality in hospitals.
• Participate in veterinary organizations to promote Banfield's brand reputation.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required.
• Veterinary license in good standing or eligibility for licensure.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in small animal medicine and surgery practice.
• Strong leadership and conflict management skills.
• Excellent communication and customer focus.
