About the position

The Area Chief of Staff at Banfield Pet Hospital is responsible for leading, developing, and managing associate veterinarians to ensure high-quality care and performance in their hospitals. This role emphasizes the importance of a strong culture of quality and safety, ensuring that every pet receives consistent care aligned with the organization's standards. The Area Chief of Staff collaborates with various teams to drive engagement, retention, and the overall success of veterinary practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage associate veterinarians to ensure quality care and performance.
• Communicate and drive a culture of quality and safety at the hospital level.
• Perform regular hospital visits and quality audits for compliance with standards.
• Develop and coach associate veterinarians on necessary skills for success.
• Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and training new veterinarians.
• Deliver on veterinary quality KPIs to support hospital performance.
• Identify and develop future veterinary talent for leadership roles.
• Support engagement and retention of certified veterinary technicians.
• Manage medical equipment inventory and functionality in hospitals.
• Participate in veterinary organizations to promote Banfield's brand.

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required.
• Veterinary license in good standing or eligibility for licensure.
• 3 years experience in small animal medicine and surgery practice.
• Proven ability to perform basic surgeries and use standard medical instruments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate problems into solutions.
