About the position

The Area Chief of Staff at Banfield Pet Hospital is responsible for leading, developing, and managing associate veterinarians across multiple hospitals. This role focuses on ensuring high-quality veterinary care, fostering a positive workplace culture, and meeting performance metrics. The Area Chief of Staff collaborates with practice managers and other stakeholders to drive quality care and enhance the overall veterinary team’s effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage associate veterinarians to ensure quality care and performance metrics are met.
  • Communicate and drive a culture of quality and safety at the hospital level.
  • Perform regular hospital visits and quality audits to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Develop and coach associate veterinarians on necessary skills for success.
  • Partner with the Director of Veterinary Quality to recruit and onboard new veterinarians.
  • Deliver on veterinary quality KPIs to support hospital performance.
  • Identify and develop future veterinary talent for leadership roles.
  • Manage medical equipment inventory and functionality in assigned hospitals.
  • Participate in local, state, and national veterinary organizations to promote Banfield's brand.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required.
  • Veterinary license in good standing or eligibility for licensure with the applicable state veterinary board.
  • 3 years experience in small animal medicine and surgery practice.
