About the position

The Area Chief of Staff is a leadership role responsible for managing and developing associate veterinarians across multiple veterinary hospitals. This position focuses on ensuring high-quality care, fostering a positive culture, and meeting performance measures. The Area Chief of Staff collaborates with practice managers and veterinary quality teams to enhance the delivery of care and support the professional growth of veterinary staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and manage associate veterinarians in assigned hospitals.
• Drive a culture of quality and safety at the hospital level.
• Perform regular hospital visits and quality audits to ensure compliance with standards.
• Develop and coach associate veterinarians on necessary skills for success.
• Partner with the Director of Veterinary Quality to recruit and onboard new veterinarians.
• Deliver on veterinary quality KPIs to support hospital performance.
• Identify and develop future veterinary talent for leadership roles.
• Manage medical equipment inventory and functionality in hospitals.
• Participate in veterinary organizations to promote Banfield's brand reputation.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required.
• Veterinary license in good standing or eligibility for licensure.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in small animal medicine and surgery practice.
• Strong leadership and conflict management skills.
• Excellent communication and customer focus.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in multi-unit veterinary practice management.
• Familiarity with veterinary quality standards and KPIs.
• Previous involvement in veterinary organizations.
