About the position

The Area Chief of Staff at Banfield Pet Hospital is responsible for leading, developing, and managing associate veterinarians across multiple hospitals. This role focuses on ensuring quality veterinary care, enhancing hospital performance, and fostering a positive culture among the veterinary team. The Area Chief of Staff collaborates with practice managers and other leaders to drive engagement, retention, and the delivery of high-quality medical care aligned with Banfield's standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage associate veterinarians to ensure quality care and hospital performance.
  • Communicate and drive a culture of quality and safety at the hospital level.
  • Perform regular hospital visits and quality audits for compliance with standards.
  • Develop and coach associate veterinarians on necessary skills for success.
  • Partner with the Director of Veterinary Quality to recruit and onboard new veterinarians.
  • Deliver on veterinary quality KPIs to support hospital and market goals.
  • Identify and develop future veterinary talent for leadership roles.
  • Manage medical equipment inventory and functionality in assigned hospitals.
  • Participate in veterinary organizations to promote Banfield's brand reputation.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required.
  • Veterinary license in good standing or eligibility for licensure.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in small animal medicine and surgery practice.
  • Proven surgical skills and ability to perform basic surgeries.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to develop practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage and measure work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in leadership roles within veterinary practices.
  • Familiarity with veterinary quality KPIs and performance metrics.
