About the position

The Area Chief of Staff at Banfield Pet Hospital is responsible for leading, developing, and managing associate veterinarians across multiple hospitals. This role focuses on ensuring the delivery of high-quality veterinary care while fostering a culture of safety and engagement among the veterinary team. The Area Chief of Staff collaborates with practice managers and other leaders to meet hospital performance measures and enhance the overall client experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage associate veterinarians to ensure quality care and hospital performance.
  • Communicate and drive a culture of quality and safety at the hospital level.
  • Conduct regular hospital visits and quality audits for compliance with standards.
  • Develop and coach associate veterinarians on necessary skills for success.
  • Partner with the Director of Veterinary Quality to recruit and onboard new veterinarians.
  • Deliver on veterinary quality KPIs to support hospital and market goals.
  • Identify and develop future veterinary talent for leadership roles.
  • Manage medical equipment inventory and functionality in assigned hospitals.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in veterinary organizations to promote Banfield's brand.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required.
  • Veterinary license in good standing or eligibility for licensure.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in small animal medicine and surgery practice.
  • Strong leadership and conflict management skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer focus.
