About the position

As an Area Controller at Thomson Reuters, you will oversee local statutory and tax reporting processes, ensuring compliance and timely delivery of financial statements. You will manage relationships with external auditors and local tax authorities, supervise accounts payable and receivable, and support local management with financial insights. This role requires strong leadership and accounting expertise, particularly in IFRS and local GAAP, to drive financial accuracy and compliance within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Oversee local statutory reporting and tax reporting processes.
• Manage the relationship with external statutory auditors.
• Ensure compliance with ongoing legal entity local statutory and tax reporting obligations.
• Oversee records retention processes to meet statutory requirements.
• Provide timely responses to inquiries from local tax authorities.
• Coordinate responses to local tax audit requirements.
• Conduct regular balance sheet and P&L reviews.
• Manage Accounts Payables and Accounts Receivables processes.
• Act as a local Business Controller to support management and sales teams.
• Close and report monthly and yearly financial statements according to local GAAP and Group IFRS.
• Monitor the month-end close process and ensure reconciliation obligations are met.
• Manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Professional accounting qualification is required.
• 5+ years experience in accounting and finance roles.
• Strong knowledge of local tax & statutory reporting requirements.
• Practical experience with IFRS and local GAAP accounting.
• Experience with SAP accounting system.
• Prior experience in a shared services finance function is preferred.
• Strong work ethic and ability to meet deadlines.
• Drive and self-motivation with the ability to work independently.

• Experience in a centralized controller function is highly regarded.
