Job Summary: Trane South Texas (San Antonio, Coastal Bend, Rio Grande Valley, & Laredo) Area is hiring an Area Controls Manager to join our team. The branch location will reside out of our San Antonio office. In this role, you will be responsible for the operations of the Controls portion of the Contracting business. You will be responsible for the administration, implementation, and management of the contracting fulfillment processes in its goal of operational excellence, support of overall strategic objectives, and accountable for overall project financial results. The Area Controls Manager manages all aspects of assigned projects throughout their duration, with direct responsibility for project execution and targeted profitability while leading a team, or teams, to accomplish specific objectives in each time frame and with available resources. The Area Controls Manager will also work with the development and sales side of the business to help develop new business and sales strategies while validating costs to assure competitive pricing. The future of work role designation is Hybrid, at Trane office location(s). Where is the work: This position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week. The primary work location for this position is San Antonio, TX; however, we are open to hiring the right candidate in Corpus Christi or the Rio Grande Valley area. If hired in Corpus Christi or Rio Grande Valley, frequent travel to San Antonio would be required. If in San Antonio, the position will still require periodic travel to Corpus Christi, Rio Grande Valley, & Laredo.

Responsibilities

  • Manage performance by monitoring Controls Contracting personnel effectiveness and efficiency in relation to customer service and operating plan goals.
  • Support the Area General Manager and Regional Controls Leader in delivering business results and sharing department vision and principles of teaming within.
  • Administer, implement, and manage the controls contracting fulfillment processes in its goal of excellence, support of overall strategic objectives, and accountable for overall project financial results using lean methodology.
  • Coach, mentor, develop and lead a local group of controls project managers, project specialists, project coordinators, and controls field technicians.
  • Directly supervise Controls Contracting fulfillment personnel assigned.
  • Function as the primary interface between the customer, vendors, sub-contractors, and internal expertise within the sales organization and fulfillment organization.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, and communicating with customers and assigned staff.
  • Maintain and improve current customer relationships while seeking out other sales opportunities.
  • Organize and schedule all assigned Controls Contracting personnel.
  • Identify and prioritize projects and plan jobs and manpower utilization in detail including planning for future growth.
  • Oversee and validate monthly financial forecasting for work in backlog and pipeline.
  • Manage revenue to forecast and assigned projects within the time and cost estimates.
  • Review and validate contracts and estimates by performing risk analysis and developing risk plans.
  • Confirm Trane ability to meet the project performance and financial requirements by obtaining and analyzing customer data, project data, and implementation issues prior to accepting the project.
  • Lead as a local controls contracting operations safety professional to establish & maintain a work culture that makes safety priority #1.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
  • Ensure that assigned fulfillment personnel follow all EHS guidelines and policies.
  • Actively participate in the project development and sales alignment for System and Services controls opportunities.
  • Actively participate in teaming within the local office for both System and Services Sales and Operations organizations.
  • Actively lead renewal process for local contracting licenses where assigned in collaboration with Project Administrators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum eight (8) years' experience in facilities or HVAC systems preferred.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in contracting processes associated with the installation of building automation systems and turnkey projects preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations.
