About the position

The Area Director of Reservations Sales is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the Reservations efforts at three prominent properties in the San Diego area: San Diego Mission Bay Resort, L' Auberge Del Mar, and Estancia La Jolla Hotel and Spa. This position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with the Area Director of Sales and Marketing to set strategic directions, create operational procedures, and develop training and incentive programs aimed at enhancing the performance of the reservations teams. The role is integral to ensuring that the properties achieve their revenue goals through effective management of the reservations process. In this capacity, the Area Director will consult with various departments including sales, revenue management, and reservations sales associates to lead initiatives that drive revenue. A key responsibility will be to evaluate call volume reports to optimize staffing levels according to peak times, ensuring that the team is well-equipped to handle customer inquiries efficiently. Additionally, the director will analyze call conversion reports and devise action plans to improve conversion rates, both internally and externally, for the hotels. The role also involves managing data input and report generation, acting as the primary administrator of the NAVIS platform, and monitoring sales calls to maintain high standards of service. The Area Director will create and implement incentive programs that demonstrate a clear return on investment for the department and the hotels, while also coaching and supervising reservations sales associates to enhance their performance and address operational issues. Recruitment, hiring, and training within the department will also fall under the purview of this position, along with making recommendations to improve team member retention and supporting the professional development of direct reports. This role is essential in fostering a culture of excellence and accountability within the reservations department, ensuring that the team is motivated and aligned with the overall goals of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with sales, revenue management, and reservations sales associates to lead revenue-producing efforts.
  • Evaluate call volume reports to ensure optimization of staffing by day of week and shift to capture peak call volume.
  • Evaluate call conversion reports and develop action plans to increase and optimize conversion for the hotels.
  • Manage the input of data and report generation in daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
  • Act as primary administrator of NAVIS platform.
  • Monitor sales calls for both central and property sales associates and recommend developmental action plans to maintain call standards.
  • Create and implement incentive programs with specific ROI for the department and hotels revenue generation.
  • Meet deadlines as established by corporate team and by hotels.
  • Coach and supervise reservations sales associates in issues relating to the daily operation of the Reservations Department.
  • Oversee recruiting, hiring, and training within the department.
  • Make recommendations and implement processes specifically related to team member retention.
  • Aid in the professional development of direct reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Hotel Administration, Business, Statistics, Marketing, Finance or a relevant field of work preferred.
  • Two years reservations experience.
  • In-depth understanding of tools- spreadsheets, statistical methods for analyzing data.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of hotel operations.
  • Ability to use PMS and reservation systems.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
