About the position

The Area Director of Sales is responsible for overseeing the sales and marketing department of the hotel, aiming to maximize sales revenue and ensure that the sales staff actively work towards meeting budgeted goals and key hotel drivers. This role involves developing sales strategies, managing marketing plans, and training the sales team to achieve actionable results while fostering a culture of guest service.

Responsibilities

• Develop sales strategies for the property, including targeted market segments, rate management, solicitation procedures, and advertising.
• Create a realistic annual marketing plan with monthly reviews to adjust based on market conditions.
• Implement control procedures and yield management to balance rate availability with market demand.
• Establish and execute an effective outside sales program.
• Direct the internal servicing of groups.
• Collaborate with the hotel management team and the General Manager.
• Train all sales and marketing staff, holding them accountable for results.
• Work cooperatively and positively with fellow associates.
• Promote a culture of guest service and maintain a positive attitude in all interactions.
• Perform any reasonable requests as assigned by the General Manager.

Requirements

• Strong business communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
• 3 years of proven hotel sales experience with demonstrated creative thinking and results-driven leadership skills.
• High work ethic and self-initiative.
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Suite.
• Basic computational ability.
• Ability to maintain excellent relationships with staff and confidentiality with guests.

Nice-to-haves

• Some travel may be required.
• Ability to participate in and lead departmental and/or hotel team meetings.
