About the position

The Area Director of Sales is responsible for overseeing the sales and marketing department of the hotel, aiming to maximize sales revenue and ensure that the sales team meets budgeted goals. This role involves developing sales strategies, managing marketing efforts, and training staff to foster a culture of guest service and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop sales strategies for the property, including targeted market segments and rate management.
  • Create an annual marketing plan with monthly reviews to adapt to market conditions.
  • Implement control procedures and yield management to balance rate availability with market demand.
  • Establish and execute an effective outside sales program.
  • Direct the internal servicing of groups.
  • Collaborate with the hotel management team and General Manager.
  • Train sales and marketing staff, holding them accountable for results.
  • Foster a cooperative and friendly work environment among associates.
  • Promote a culture of guest service and positive interactions in all encounters.
  • Perform any reasonable requests as assigned by the General Manager.

Requirements

  • Strong business communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • 3 years of proven hotel sales experience with a results-driven leadership approach.
  • High work ethic and self-initiative.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Suite.
  • Basic computational ability.
  • Ability to maintain excellent relationships with staff and confidentiality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Some travel may be required.
  • Ability to participate in and lead departmental and hotel team meetings.
