About the position

The Area Director of Sales is responsible for developing and executing strategic sales and marketing plans for a group of hotels, with the primary goal of maximizing revenues through various channels including direct sales, marketing, e-commerce, public relations, and community partnerships. This role requires a deep understanding of sales and business processes, as well as the ability to support corporate and hotel goals while enhancing customer value. The Area Director will work closely with hotel associates, providing training, coaching, and support to ensure that all team members perform in accordance with established brand standards and HHM core values. In this position, the Area Director will identify customer business requirements and craft tailored offers that increase revenue share for the hotel. Monitoring the sales team's performance against the annual marketing plan is crucial, and the Area Director will take corrective actions as necessary to meet objectives. The role also involves focusing on personal sales efforts to maximize revenue from key accounts and maintaining strong relationships with these accounts to enhance customer satisfaction and revenue. The Area Director will prepare and maintain a current annual marketing plan with specific initiatives aimed at growing each business segment. Leadership responsibilities include modeling effective selling techniques, developing team members, and committing to personal and industry development. The position requires effective communication skills to develop presentations that clearly convey ideas and recommendations. Additionally, the Area Director will travel locally to conduct outside calls, promote the hotel, and review competition, all while adhering to sustainability guidelines related to HHM's EarthView program.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic sales and marketing plans for a group of hotels.
  • Interview, select, train, schedule, coach, and support associates.
  • Use internal and external resources to develop strategic plans for all business segments.
  • Understand sales and business processes to support corporate and hotel goals.
  • Identify customer business requirements and craft offers to increase revenue share.
  • Monitor sales team objectives and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Focus on personal sales efforts to maximize revenue from key accounts.
  • Maintain relationships with key accounts to increase customer satisfaction and revenue.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions that satisfy customer requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain an annual marketing plan with measurable initiatives.
  • Model proper selling techniques and effective development of others.
  • Develop effective presentations for ideas and recommendations.
  • Travel locally to conduct outside calls and promote the hotel.
  • Follow sustainability guidelines related to HHM's EarthView program.

Requirements

  • Four-year college degree required; advanced degree coursework in business administration, marketing, or communications is a plus.
  • Previous sales experience in a comparable hotel size and scope required; operations experience preferred.
  • Public relations and community marketing experience required.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Delphi, and access database tools.
