About the position

The Field Area Financial Manager will manage all aspects of planning, forecasting, analysis, and reporting for our field operations locations at an area level. This role is crucial in leading and directing the financial teams to support sales and operations effectively. The position will provide contract knowledge and analytical support for various processes, as well as additional support to other functional areas. The Area Finance Manager will be accountable for all business planning and forecasting at the area level, ensuring that financial strategies are integrated into all operational strategies, activities, and decision-making processes. Collaboration is key in this role, as the Area Finance Manager will work closely with Area and Site Operations Leadership and cross-functional teams. This collaboration will help to integrate finance into all strategies and activities, ensuring that financial considerations are at the forefront of decision-making. The position will also require interfacing with customers on an as-needed basis, providing a comprehensive financial perspective to support business operations in both the US and Mexico. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred to facilitate communication in these regions. The role involves effectively analyzing and interpreting financial results, comparing them to the proforma/budget, and understanding their relationship to the P&L. The Area Finance Manager will identify opportunities and develop action plans for areas of concern, leading the process for developing financial strategies using LEAN principles. Additionally, the position will require innovative pricing solutions, participation in core selling teams, and the articulation of value propositions to both the field and customers. The Area Finance Manager will also work with the accounting team to ensure the accuracy of monthly financials and support corporate initiatives for systems, centralization, and controllership, including field location audits. Furthermore, the role includes providing operational financial support and training, managing and developing analysts, and communicating feedback to the Area VP.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively analyze and interpret financial results comparing to the proforma/budget by understanding the relationship it has to P&L and the impact from scope/volume changes and inefficiencies.
  • Lead and direct the process for identifying, specifying and developing financial strategies using LEAN principles.
  • Effectively plan and forecast business results.
  • Provide innovative pricing solutions to include risk assessment strategy for new and renewal deals.
  • Participate on core selling team developing renewal strategies.
  • Articulate the value proposition to the field and to our customers by identifying the critical metrics that should be measured to determine Penske's performance.
  • Work with accounting team to ensure accuracy of monthly financials.
  • Support corporate initiatives for systems, centralization and controllership inclusive of field location audits.
  • Provide operational financial support and training.
  • Responsible for management and development of analysts.
  • Communicate and provide feedback to Area VP.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • 7-15 years of finance/accounting experience
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience
  • BS/BA in Finance or Accounting required
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Excellent communication and people skills required
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills required
  • Quality program certification (Six Sigma, ISO, LEAN, etc.) preferred
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required
  • Knowledge of company systems and procedures preferred
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.
