About the position

The Area General Manager (AGM) for Bayer is responsible for leading a cross-functional team to achieve revenue goals and drive market share growth in the cardiovascular, renal, and pulmonary therapeutic areas. This role requires a deep understanding of healthcare systems and customer needs, as well as the ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives. The AGM will coach and mentor team members, manage a diverse portfolio of brands, and build long-term relationships with key customers to enhance brand adoption and performance outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for achieving revenue goals for the area.
  • Execute comprehensive strategies and initiatives to drive revenue growth and market share in the region.
  • Develop and lead a high performing team including sales representatives and key account managers.
  • Assess and determine the size and composition of the team based on market needs.
  • Develop a One Team approach with shared accountability within the team.
  • Gain and apply a deep understanding of relevant markets, business models, and financial drivers.
  • Define the Regional strategy and priorities in collaboration with cross-functional and HQ teams.
  • Manage a portfolio of brands and dynamically allocate resources to maximize impact.
  • Develop long-term relationships with influential customers to address business opportunities.
  • Maintain timely communications with all direct reports and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Customer facing experience in roles promoting Cardiovascular, Renal, Pulmonary and/or other therapies.
  • Demonstrated strength in coaching and mentoring teams/peers.
  • High level of business and financial acumen.
  • Thorough understanding of health systems, customer segments, and regional market dynamics.
  • Willing and able to travel routinely on a weekly basis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years' experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech sector.
  • Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience in managing budgets and negotiating for resources.
  • People leadership and/or cross-functional experiences.
