The Area Manager for Foodservice Sales at Performance Food Group is responsible for the development and management of independent account business, focusing on profitability through new sales and account penetration. This role involves promoting and selling company-branded products while meeting brand sales objectives. The Area Manager will also support customer service activities for regional and national chain customers, enhancing the company's visibility in the marketplace and maximizing market share. As a key team member within the department and organization, the Area Manager will perform various duties assigned to best serve the company and its customers. In this position, the Area Manager will generate additional business by analyzing the sales territory and individual customers. This includes sampling products with existing and potential customers, planning a general sales strategy that encompasses time and territory management, and conducting effective sales presentations. The Area Manager is expected to grow sales and profit margins continuously to meet established sales and margin goals. The role also involves setting up new customer accounts, determining pricing, and coordinating with the Credit Department for initial authorization. The Area Manager will ensure customer satisfaction by providing exemplary service and working closely with other center personnel to resolve any customer issues. Additionally, the Area Manager will build business with current customers through product penetration to maximize profitability and monitor accounts for compliance with credit terms to minimize accounts receivable problems. Staying aware of pricing trends within the sales territory, particularly for market-driven and commodity products, is essential to ensure competitive pricing. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.
