The Area Manager for Foodservice Sales is responsible for the development and management of independent account business, focusing on overall profitability through both new sales and account penetration. This role involves promoting and selling company-branded products while meeting brand sales objectives. The Area Manager may also support customer service activities for regional and/or national chain customers, thereby increasing the visibility of the company in the marketplace and maximizing market share. As a key member of the sales team, the Area Manager will perform various duties assigned to best serve the company and its clients. In this position, the Area Manager will generate additional business by analyzing the sales territory and individual customers. This includes sampling products with existing and potential customers, planning a general sales strategy that encompasses time and territory management, and conducting effective sales presentations. The Area Manager is expected to grow sales and profit margins continuously to meet established sales and margin goals. The role also involves setting up new customer accounts by determining pricing, working with the Credit Department for initial authorization, and coordinating with other center personnel for scheduling order-taking and deliveries. Ensuring customer satisfaction is paramount, and the Area Manager will work closely with other center personnel to coordinate efforts to prevent and resolve customer problems. In emergency situations, the Area Manager may be personally responsible for making deliveries. Additionally, the Area Manager will build additional business with current customers through product penetration to maximize the profitability of individual accounts. Monitoring accounts for compliance with credit terms is essential to minimize accounts receivable problems. The Area Manager must maintain awareness of pricing trends within the sales territory, particularly on market-driven or commodity products, to ensure competitive pricing. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.
