About the position

The Area Manager at FedEx is responsible for overseeing the daily and long-term operations of a defined area within a FedEx facility. This role emphasizes the importance of safety and efficiency in package sortation, managing Operations Managers and Package Handlers to ensure productive relationships and successful customer-facing results.

Responsibilities

  • Champion FedEx's Safety Above All Culture and support related initiatives.
  • Manage hiring, terminations, coaching, training, recognition, performance evaluation, and discipline of staff.
  • Plan, organize, staff, direct, and control day-to-day operations of the facility.
  • Manage and assign employees, primarily Operations Managers, to ensure safe and efficient package sortation.
  • Determine strategic goals for the work area and ensure quality, service, cost, and productivity goals are achieved.
  • Oversee daily visual inspections of loads for quality assurance.
  • Direct Operations Managers to ensure understanding of operational updates and daily goals.
  • Ensure compliance with FedEx policies and applicable regulations.
  • Participate in developing and administering company safety strategies and programs.
  • Foster a safety-conscious culture and advocate for safety compliance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Eighteen months experience as an Ops Manager at FedEx or two years of previous management experience, operational leadership, military leadership, or project/team leader experience, or a combination of one year as an Ops Manager and one year of previous management experience.
