About the position

The Area Manager is responsible for overseeing the activities of assigned manufacturing areas, ensuring the safe and efficient production of company products. This role involves managing multiple shifts and departments, adhering to quality and productivity standards, and maintaining a safe work environment. The Area Manager will also be involved in employee coaching, development, and performance management, while ensuring compliance with safety and operational procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the activities of assigned manufacturing areas and ensure compliance with established procedures and processes.
  • Ensure the safe manufacture of products and maintain a safe, injury-free work environment.
  • Provide employee coaching and development, resolving issues through effective problem resolution.
  • Adhere to process control procedures and quality control instructions.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise operations according to production schedules in a cost-effective manner.
  • Manage performance measures and ensure budget criteria are met or exceeded.
  • Conduct formal performance appraisals and recommend pay increases, transfers, promotions, and terminations.
  • Interview and recommend hires, managing the hiring process with consideration for affirmative action goals.
  • Train and develop subordinate supervisory staff to manage production operations effectively.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process for areas of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or engineering, or 5 to 7 years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Proven leadership skills with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Computer literate, particularly in spreadsheet, financial, inventory, and production planning applications.
  • Ability to develop, execute, and deliver results in line with action plans.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of hazardous waste training due to potential coordination of hazardous waste handling.
